If Light Volley is so easy to start playing, the credit goes above all to the ball. Bigger, lighter, less "aggressive" than a traditional volleyball - it’s the real star of the game.
Why it’s the real star
- It doesn’t hurt. The reduced weight - 125 grams, almost half of a volleyball - makes every contact soft: it removes the fear of hurting your wrist or forearm, even for people who have never played before.
- You can hit it even without technique. Its more generous size (25 cm diameter, versus 21 cm for a traditional volleyball) makes it easy to intercept, even for people who have never picked up a volleyball.
- It removes the fear, not the fun. Less fear of making a mistake or getting hurt means more willingness to dive into the rally: more touches, longer rallies, more fun for everyone.
- Lighter doesn’t mean easier to control. Precisely because of its size and weight, it requires a different touch than classic volleyball: even more experienced players have to adapt, and that’s exactly what puts everyone on the same level.
