Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most common questions about what Light Volley is and how to start playing.
Is Light Volley the same thing as volleyball?
No. Light Volley is a reinterpretation of volleyball: it derives from it and reinterprets some of its elements (ball, court, net, number of players), but it doesn't aim to replace it or to be confused with it. See the full comparison.
Do you need volleyball experience to play?
No. Light Volley is designed to be easy to learn even for people who have never played volleyball regularly.
How many players does a match need?
Five players per team. If more people are present, an outside player can rotate in on every point won.
Can Light Volley be played in mixed teams?
Yes, the mixed format is expected and strongly recommended: at least two women per team must be present.
Where is Light Volley played?
Light Volley has been proposed in several schools across Trentino. The site doesn't keep an up-to-date list of where it's played: for current information, contact Matteo Zingaro.
How can I propose Light Volley at school or in a club?
Contact Matteo Zingaro: he can give you up-to-date information on how to organise an activity.
